   Our Approach to Thermography
Our History   Thermal Trend® – Lean RDBMS  Thermal Trend® – Lean is a Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) designed for Infrared Thermography created by Fred Colbert in the 1980's. The need became apparent during the IR inspections that he did for the US Navy’s Aircraft Carriers and Military Sealift Command vessels. A technological solution was necessary to adequately track the status of individual pieces of redundant shipboard equipment, and Thermal Trend was born.
Later, the backbone of Thermal Trend was combined with the Lean Thinking principles developed by the Toyota Production System, to create Thermal Trend® – Lean.  Thermal Trend® – Lean is now the “Gold Standard” for the establishment and maintainance of a World Class Infrared Predictive Maintenance program..  Colbert Infrared Services, Inc. utilizes Thermal Trend® – Lean exclusively in its programs with Fortune 500 companies such as Boeing, Ford, Harley-Davidson, DuPont, and Bayer AG.
